The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars as a result of the team's next preseason matchup. However, according to Philadelphia head coach Doug Pederson, it remains to be seen as to whether Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz takes the field against the Jaguars come Thursday evening in Jacksonville.

It is also worth noting that Wentz did not play last week against the Tennessee Titans, 27-10 loss for the NFC East franchise.

The Eagles are expecting big things from both Pederson and Wentz this season as the team has officially moved on from the safety net that is current Jaguars starting quarterback Nick Foles. Foles signed with the Jaguars as a free agent this offseason after serving as Wentz's backup for the last several seasons, though the quarterbacking duties were split almost right down the middle in the end as Wentz continued to encounter injury after injury. Not only that, but Foles even led the Eagles through the postseason as a result of each of the last two seasons, the first of which resulted in the franchise's first-ever Super Bowl title.

However, Wentz is once again the go-to guy under center in Philadelphia despite encountering a slew of setbacks over the years. In addition to losing out on Foles as the team's primary backup, this year's reserve signal-caller in Nate Sudfeld recently suffered a seemingly significant wrist injury against the aforementioned Titans. As a result, Wentz's health is even more of a concern going forward as the need for him to remain on the field just increased severely.
