Jason Kelce speaks on George Floyd after hearing DeSean Jackson speak

Philadelphia Eagles

DeSean Jackson decided to give an emotional speech to the Philadelphia Eagles during their team meeting on Monday, igniting others to speak up. Following Jackson’s speech on racial injustices, Jason Kelce took to Instagram to express his opinion on George Floyd’s wrongful murder.

It’s apparent that whatever Jackson shared during the team meeting prompted Kelce to speak out on the matter. On the second slide of his Instagram post, Kelce is hopeful that change will occur in our society:

“Systematic racism is unquestionable in our society, the numbers are irrefutable,” the Eagles talent wrote. “Hopefully our society will continue to hold ourselves and our government to higher standards as leaders of the free world. “We hold these truths to be self evident, that ALL MEN are CREATED EQUAL, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are LIFE, Liberty and the Pursuit of of Happiness” — that sentence was written over two centuries ago and we still aren’t there. As Americans, I believe it is our duty to hold our country accountable to these words, it’s the only way we will ever get there.”

For years, there has been mistreatment of people due to the color of their skin. However, changes haven’t been made and people like George Floyd are losing their lives because of it.

More people need to act in the same manner as Kelce and be willing to listen. In addition, it’s important for everyone to realize that there is an issue that needs to be addressed. Besides the Eagles talent, Carson Wentz also shared his reaction to Floyd’s death. Once people begin to listen and accept there’s an issue, then we can begin to progress towards change.
