One of the big question marks heading into the Philadelphia Eagles preseason is how would the running back carries be split up. It's only been a few days of practice, but it appears that Jordan Howard is quickly taking over the role as the top back.

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP.com, Howard has been dominating the carries with the first-team offense, and there isn't anyone even close to him.

The team traded for Howard this offseason from the Chicago Bears, and it's evident that the team is leaning on his experience. The team drafted from Penn State standout Miles Sanders in the second round and at some point, he will probably take over the starting role, but it's unclear when that will be. It could be sometime later this year, or it could be a couple of years down the road, a lot of it depends on what kind of production Howard has.

The talk this offseason has been about how the team will ride the hot hand most games so even though Howard starts if Sanders or someone else steps up and has the success they could play most of the rest of the game.

The team also did bring back Darren Sproles, but outside him and Howard there isn't a ton of experience in the backfield. The team is going to lean on Howard for success on the field, but also to help some of the younger guys adjust to life in the NFL and becoming a pro.
