Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson was moved to questionable before Thursday night's 34-13 win over the New York Giants due to a high ankle sprain, and at one point it looked like he may not suit up. However, Johnson gutted through three quarters of the Eagles' dominant performance, and he clearly was motivated by critics to play.

Via Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philly:

“I feel good. I think when people throw my name in the gutter, it just makes me better. So that’s all I got to say.”

An All-Pro last year, Johnson has taken some criticism to start this season with the Eagles showing a bit of a Super Bowl hangover. Philly went into New York with a 2-3 record, and the right tackle was feeling the pain after suffering the ankle injury last Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

But Johnson delivered through that pain Thursday night. He made it nearly three quarters before going down on the final play of the third frame. While he tried to sneak back into the game after the field flipped for the fourth quarter, he had to sit out a play and then rested the remainder of the game with the score out of hand.

“He got mad heart, man,” right guard Brandon Brooks said. “He’s a grinder, man. He loves the game. S—, I love seeing him out there, man. That’s my guy. He’s really a brother to me. That’s just a testament to the character of the guy he is.”

Johnson will have an extra-long time to rest up before the Eagles face the Carolina Panthers in Week 7 action.
