Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins was not present at Tuesday afternoon's OTA practice, according to a recent report from Howard Eskin of Sports Radio 94 WIP and FOX 29 TV. With Jenkins' absence serving as a curious notion, Eskin believes that the seemingly ongoing situation could be contract related.

According to some thinking out loud Mike Florio of NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, perhaps Jenkins could be in the running for a new deal from the Eagles, which could help could explain his unusual absence.

“While safeties around the league were getting new deals and sizable raises this offseason, Jenkins has quickly become underpaid,” writes Florio. “He’s scheduled to make $8.35 million this year and $7.85 million next year, the final two years of the four-year, $35 million extension he signed three years ago. That’s well off the $14 million a year deals being handed out to other players recently. Jenkins hasn’t said any of this himself, but his absence is unprecedented.”
