The Philadelphia Eagles are the reigning Super Bowl champions after an incredible run during the 2017 campaign led by a backup quarterback in veteran Nick Foles. Following Carson Wentz's season-ending knee injury, Foles became the starter and didn't miss a beat as he defied the odds with a remarkable performance which resulted in his first title and a Super Bowl MVP.

Although Foles is coming off an impressive run and has become a household name as a result, the veteran quarterback doesn't get paid like a Super Bowl-winning quarterback. Foles' future with the Eagles was uncertain after the championship run with many anticipating the team trading him with his value never being higher. However, that didn't turn out to be the case as he restructured his deal with Philadelphia while also seeing other quarterbacks around the NFL get paid which didn't sit well with him, via Peter King of Pro Football Talk.

“It was hard to watch other players—quarterbacks in particular—sign massive contracts in the weeks following the Super Bowl. On a daily basis, I have to fight the internal battle to keep my priorities straight.”

During this NFL offseason, a few of the league's top quarterbacks signed lucrative long-term deals. Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons set the bar high inking his five-year, $150 million deal with $100 million guaranteed. Jimmy Garoppolo also signed a lucrative deal with the San Francisco 49ers having only started five games for the team since being traded by the New England Patriots.

Along with these star quarterbacks signing new deals to set the market, it will be only a matter of time before Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers signs his contract. Rodgers is expected to become the highest-paid player in the NFL and possibly set the bar substantially higher for contracts at his position.

Other notable quarterbacks who signed new deals since the Eagles beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl include Case Keenum, Sam Bradford, Kirk Cousins, and Drew Brees.
