Philadelphia Eagles star tight end Zach Ertz is nearing the end of his current deal with the NFC East club. In fact, he has a potential out after the 2020 season.

So naturally, a contract extension has been the big news surrounding the tight end. But according to Zach Berman of The Athletic, Ertz isn't concentrating on a long-term deal since the start of the regular season.

“Once the games started, my sole focus has been on trying to find ways to win football games and get open on time for Carson and be a great teammate, and since the season started I think I’ve done that. . . . In regards to the contract, that’s not even in my thought process,” Ertz said.

Obviously, many people have brought up the contract situation, and it is natural for them to believe it could be weighing heavily on the mind of Ertz.

Nothing has gotten done yet though. That has led to even more assumptions. Now not only are people wondering about the extension, but many believe there must be some sort of dispute between the Eagles and the tight end.

Ertz is dismissing all of that though. He claims that the contract is “not even in my thought process.” The tight end says that he is only really focused on being a good teammate and getting open for his quarterback, who has struggled.

So far, he has definitely put up decent numbers. Ertz already has 15 receptions on the year, racking up 130 yards and one touchdown in the process.

It is hard to believe that a contract situation like this is not weighing on a superstar player at all. However, Ertz claims that to be the case.

And so far, his play on the field has done nothing to make anyone believe he isn't telling the truth. Now the only question left is a new contract happen in Philadelphia, and if so when?
