It's been a whopping 3 years since Bethesda unveiled the teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6. Yet that's all we've got since then. Now, Bethesda's Todd Howard is finally spilling the beans as to what's currently in development for the game.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Howard explains: “It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design [phase]… but we’re checking the tech: ‘Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?’ Every game will have some new suites of technology so Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions on to Creation Engine 2 that that game is going to require.”

Howard also talked about Starfield, an Indiana Jones game he's been pitching since 2009, and their Creation Engine. Although The Elder Scrolls 6 made its way to public consciousness as early as 2018, it would seem that Starfield has been Bethesda's top priority. Hopefully for the good reasons.

“The [new Starfield] technology, Creation Engine 2, is sort of built for both [games],” Howard says. “It’s like a new tech base. The vast majority of our development work is on Starfield right now but everybody works on everything so the projects kind of intertwine.”

In May of last year, Bethesda’s SVP of Global Marketing Pete Hines said that fans were unlikely to hear about The Elder Scrolls 6 until Starfield releases.

Hines tweeted: “It’s after Starfield, which you pretty much know nothing about. So if you’re coming at me for details now and not years from now, I’m failing to properly manage your expectations.”

So for now, things are still pretty quiet. We still know very little about the game, but the fact that Bethesda is working hard to keep things under wraps seems pretty exciting.
