After starring in The Curse together, Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder will keep their collaborative relationship going. Stone will star in Field's upcoming A24 film, Checkmate.

In a new feature on The Curse from IndieWire, they touched on other A24 projects including The Smashing Machine and Checkmate. It is subtly thrown in that Stone will star in Fielder's upcoming Checkmate.

The film is Nathan Fielder's feature film directorial debut. He is most known for creating, writing, directing, and executive producing Nathan for You. As an actor, he has appeared in films such as The Night Before, The Disaster Artist, and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.

On the small screen, Fielder has appeared in episodes of The Simpsons, Rick and Morty, Animals, and Kroll Show. Recently, he created The Rehearsal and also writes and directs episodes of it.

The Curse marked the first collaboration between Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone. Fielder co-created it with Benny Safdie. It depicts a couple who try to conceive a child while trying to get their HGTV show off the ground. Doing so, the couple encounters an alleged curse that haunts their relationship.

After premiering the first three episodes at the 2023 New York Film Festival, Showtime premiered it on November 12, 2023. The series aired nine more episodes through January 14, 2024. Fielder directed seven of the 10 episodes (including the final six episodes) and A24 produced it.

With Checkmate, Fielder also collaborates with A24 once again. It's a sort of homecoming between the actors and studio.

Emma Stone is an award-winning actress who has won two Oscars in her young career. She has also been the recipient of Golden Globes and British Academy Film Awards.

Early in her career, Stone had roles in TV series including The New Partridge Family, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Malcolm in the Middle, Drive, 30 Rock, and iCarly.

On the big screen, Stone made her debut in 2007's Superbad. She played Jules, the love interest of Jonah Hill's character in the comedy. Her big break came a couple of years later when she starred in Zombieland with Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Bill Murray.

She would ride that wave of popularity into the 2010s. Stone had a run over the next few years that included Easy A, Friend with Benefits, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Help, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Croods.

In 2014, she starred in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Birdman. For her performance in the latter film, Stone received her first-ever Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She didn't win but wouldn't have to wait much longer.

After starring in La La Land with Ryan Gosling, Stone received her second Oscar nomination, this time for Best Actress. She won the award this time around and was nominated just two years later for her performance in The Favourite.

From there, Stone starred in a Zombieland and Croods sequel before playing the title character in Disney's Cruella. She would remain off of the big screen until 2023's Poor Things, her second collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos. Stone won her second Best Actress Oscar for this performance. Coming up, Stone will star in Lanthimos' next film, Kinds of Kindness.
