Barry Keoghan is in talks to join two of the MCU's Avengers, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo, in Crime 101. The Don Winslow novella adaptation is receiving comparisons to Michael Mann's Heat.
Jeff Sneider of The InSneider broke the news of Keoghan's involvement in the project. Deadline also reported on the casting. They revealed that the film will be released in theaters in 2025.
Plot details of the adaptation are being kept under wraps. Though Deadline's report claimed Winslow's novella “has shades of Heat as it follows high-level jewel thefts that are taking place up and down the Pacific Coast, which police have linked to Colombian cartels.”
A detective then tries to stop a thief from making one last score before dipping out of the game. Crime 101 is a Don Winslow novella released in July 2021.
Bart Layton will direct the film based on a script that he wrote. Shane Salerno, Eric Feller, Tim Bevan, Dimitri Doganis, and Derrin Schlesinger will produce the film for their respective companies.
Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo movies
Obviously, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo are no strangers to one another. They have starred in several MCU Avengers films as their respective characters. Hemsworth has played Thor in the MCU since 2011 and Ruffalo was introduced as the Hulk in 2012.
The duo co-starred in Thor: Ragnarok together. Ragnarok was a reimagining of the Thor series from Taika Waititi. It grossed over $850 million at the box office.
This marks the first non-MCU venture for the pair. The Avengers stars were last seen together in Avengers: Endgame. It is unlikely to be the last, though, as they will likely return in an Avengers film down the line.
