Former (and future) NCIS stars Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly will host a weekly video podcast, Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch, on Spotify, Deadline reported.

The video podcast will premiere on June 4, which features de Pablo and Weatherly who will reprise their roles in the upcoming NCIS spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva produced by CBS for its streaming platform Paramount+.

In each of the podcast's weekly episode, the actors will have a special guest to rewatch notable NCIS episodes. Some of the guests which will make appearances are former and current franchise cast actors such as Sean Murray (Timothy McGee), Sasha Alexander (Caitlin Todd), Eric Christian Olsen (Marty Deeks of NCIS: Los Angeles), Jon Cryer (Dr. Cyril Taft) and others.

The hosts and guests will wax nostalgic about the how the show has made an impact in television and pop culture, as well as reveal exclusive, never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage from the TV series' production.

Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch is produced by Spotify Studios with Rabbit Grin Productions, alongside Natalie Holysz, Kasper Selvig and Derek Johnson. Jeph Porter and Rob Holysz serve as executive producers.

NCIS was originally a spinoff of JAG, which ran for 10 seasons from 1995 to 2005. The show was one of the few to run longer than the show from which it spun off, recently renewed for a 22nd season. It's currently the seventh-longest running TV show (still airing) in the US.

Two real-life NCIS directors, David Brant (1997 to 2005) and Thomas Betro (2006 to 2009), made cameos in the show. So did the real-life Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus (2009 to 2017).

The past and present

Murray's Special Agent McGee was a guest star in the first eight episodes of NCIS season one. In season two, he was promoted to series regular. In season 20, he became the show's lead character. McGee twice became the agency's acting director. He's been a senior field agent for NCIS' Major Case Response Team since 2016.

Alexander's Special Agent Caitlin Todd made her series debut in the first episode as a Secret Service Agent. At the end of the first episode, she transfers to NCIS. Her character died in season two's final episode.

Olsen's Special Agent Marty Deeks was the LAPD-NCIS Liaison Officer assigned to the Office of Special Projects (OSP) in Los Angeles. His character was on NCIS: Los Angeles for all 12 of its seasons.

Cryer's Dr. Cyril Taft is a Captain in the United States Navy Reserves and also a doctor who rotates between both private practice and military practice. He appeared in season 13.

De Pablo first appeared as Mossad Officer Ziva David on NCIS' third season premiere as a guest. By the fourth season, she became a regular cast member and her character was no longer part of Mossad, but an NCIS agent. The actress left the series in its 11th season. In the 13th season, Ziva was killed offscreen, from a mortar attack in her home in Israel. However, in season 16, it was confirmed that she was still alive. She made several guest appearances in season 17.

Weatherly played Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo Jr. since the show's first season until he left at the final episode of the 13th season. His character also made guest appearances in other NCIS spinoffs Los Angeles and New Orleans. In season 13, he learns that he and Ziva had a daughter, Tali, who he ends up raising. It's also one of the main reasons he resigns from the agency.

Tony briefly returned in season 21 as a tribute to medical examiner Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard. The actor who played him, David McCallum, died in 2023. He was in the show for 20 seasons until his death.

Even though NCIS: Hawai'i has been canceled, the franchise will have two upcoming spinoffs: the one with Tony and Ziva and a prequel focusing on the early days of Jethro Gibbs who was played by Mark Harmon.

De Pablo and Weatherly will return to reprise their roles in the upcoming NCIS: Tony & Ziva series. It's the first NCIS spinoff that uses the characters' names instead of their field branches. In season 17, episode 11, Ziva returned to Paris to reunite with Tony and their daughter Tali. The spinoff series doesn't have a premiere date yet.
