Over three decades after Reversal of Fortune, Jeremy Irons and Glenn Close are reuniting in Encore, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The actors worked together in the 1990 Academy Award-winning thriller as battling married couple Claus and Sunny von Bülow. This time, they're teaming up in British director Simon Curtis' comedy.

Irons and Close also co-starred on stage for Mike Nichols' award-winning 1984 Broadway production The Real Thing. Both actors won Tony Awards for their performances. On screen, they starred in 1993's The House of the Spirits, a feature adaptation of Isabel Allende's 1982 debut novel of the same title.

Reunited and it could feel so good: Glen Close and Jeremy Irons in Encore

In Encore, the actors will play former Broadway luminaries Marie and Nigel, now retirement home residents. There they find a community of dormant talents. Marie decides to put on a show, in the hopes that this would stoke Nigel's passion for theater as well as help him open up to this new chapter in their lives.

Henry Winkler and Don Johnson are also attached to the project.

Curtis will direct the film from Oscar-nominated writer Robert Nelson Jacobs' script. Temple Hill Entertainment's Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and Isaac Klausner will produce the film. Encore, still in its preproduction stage, will be presented to international buyers at the Cannes film market in June.

The director helmed 2011's My Week With Marilyn, which gave star Michelle Williams her third Oscar nomination. He also helmed the hit 2022 Downton Abbey sequel, Downton Abbey: A New Era. His other credits include 2015's Woman in Gold, starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds; 2017's Goodbye Christopher Robin, with Margot Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson; and 2019's The Art of Racing in the Rain, starring Amanda Seyfried and Milo Ventimiglia.
