“We've always dreamed big and are thrilled to have created something that has captured the hearts of tens of millions around the world. This movie deal is a great logical next step in the growth of our transmedia entertainment company,” the statement continued.

What is Poppy Playtime?

Poppy Playtime is an episodic survival horror video game released in 2021. The game is set in 2005, and the player's role is that of an ex-employee of Playtime Co. The player revisits the abandoned factory after the company's staff disappeared mysteriously 10 years ago.

The game is played through a first-person perspective where the player solves puzzles, some of which require a gadget called the GrabPack, to progress in the game, all the while avoiding enemies.

The games' characters include The Employee, Poppy Playtime (the first toy created by the company), Ollie (a major character in the game), The Prototype (the game's main antagonist), Huggy Wuggy (Playtime's most successful toy), Mommy Long Legs (the second chapter's main antagonist), CatNap (chapter 3's main antagonist) and Miss Delight (the third chapter's secondary antagonist).

There have been three chapters released so far and the game currently 40 million players on several game platforms such as PC, mobile, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Roblox.

Legendary Entertainment is the studio responsible for Denis Villeneuve's massive hits Dune parts one and two. Its latest film release is Adam Wingard's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The studio's upcoming movie is the live-action adaptation of the popular video game Minecraft, which stars Jason Momoa and Jack Black.

Its television department's newest release is the Kurt and Wyatt Russell-led series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on Apple TV+. It was recently renewed for a second season. Legendary Television's previous releases include two animated series Drops of God on Apple TV+ and Skull Island on Netflix.
