While the Sphere seeks their next act, a new name has been thrown into the running. U2 opened the high-tech venue, and former Beatles star Paul McCartney could play there too.

The New York Post reported that Beyoncé was being eyed as the Sphere's next artist. Some other potential names were thrown out there, including Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, and McCartney.

Notably, Lady Gaga and McCartney were both seen at the venue. The former joined U2 on stage during one of their Sphere shows, while the latter was there opening night as Bono snippeted Beatles tunes.

Nothing is confirmed, but McCartney would be a huge get for the Sphere. He just played nine shows across Australia and Mexico with his band on the “Got Back” tour. He will pick up the tour later this month and play shows in Brazil through mid-December. As of the time of this writing, he has an open touring schedule after these shows.

Paul McCartney initially kicked off the “Got Back” tour in April 2022. He played dates across North America before concluding the first run of shows by headlining Glastonbury.

U2 is currently playing the Sphere with their residency, U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere. The shows commemorate their 1991 album Achtung Baby by playing the album in full for the first time. It was initially announced as a limited engagement, but as demand grew, more shows were added (36 total shows, to be exact). Their residency is now slated to conclude on February 18, 2024.
