Team USA shockingly ended its Gold Medal bid at the FIBA World Cup with a loss to Germany on Friday. After the game, NBA center Andre Drummond gave his take on the shocking FIBA result and what it means about Team USA going forward.

Drummond recently spoke with Rick Kamla and Antonio Daniels of SiriusXM NBA Radio to discuss the shocking result.

“It just shows you the growth of basketball internationally, just how good these players have gotten over the years,” said Drummond. “No knock against USA. These guys at the international level have gotten so much better and the teams have gotten so much better. So it's no surprise to me, they played hard, it was a great game, shots didn't fall, a couple of mistakes down the stretch of the game affected them.”

Drummond also took the time to address what Team USA can look forward to for the rest of the tournament.

“All in all, a good run for them,” said Drummond. “They have a chance to play for third now, just got to make the best of it.”

Indeed, Team USA will take on the Canadian National Team this weekend for the Bronze Medal honor at the FIBA World Cup. Still, that won't take away from the sting of their surprising loss to Germany on Friday. The German National Team features NBA players such as Dennis Schroder and the Wagner brothers, Mo and Franz.

As Drummond noted, the NBA's expansion continues to grow more and more global, to the point where other countries are now able to field teams that cannot only compete with but beat Team USA.
