It's been five months since EA and Dice have released Battlefield 2042 to the masses, and despite the overall negative reception, the team still shows some commitment to updating and supporting the game. And what better way to show that support by adding features that have been extremely common in every competitive FPS title that has been released before it.

Released in a blog post on Tuesday, March 8th, the Battlefield 2042 3.3 update has gone live, which brings several bug fixes and tweaks to control and keybindings, as well as the much-anticipated scoreboard functionality update which now includes the option for players actually see each player's kill/death ratio during matches. It also shows personal details during a match, including ribbons that have been earned for completing objectives and milestones, along with other details such as the player's current ping.

The update also goes on to mention that all Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition, Year 1 Pass, Year 1 Pass, Ultimate Pack upgrade owners, and EA Play Pro subscribers will now have access to the “Steadfast Exclusive Legendary Bundle”, which includes a handful of cosmetic perks including the Zero Resistance Skin for Mackay, Grasshopper Weapon Skin for the K30, the Steadfast Player Card Icon and more.

In the future, the blog post also goes on to mention that their next plan for improving Battlefield 2042 will be the inclusion of VOIP functionality for Squads as well as further improvements to the updated scoreboard functionally. These updates can be expected sometime during April of this year.

Even with the rumors of re-launching the game as a free-to-play game later this year might not be enough to save it, but at this point, there isn't much else EA and DICE can do to save this title. As it stands: Battlefield 2042's current status in the gaming industry can only be summarized as a cautionary tale over how not to release a triple-A game to the market. Hopefully, they can rework the game enough to bring fans back, but it might already be too late.
