The official Steam store page for the game describes it with the following:

“Combine the intense, skill-shot PVP of Magicka or Battlerite with the graphics of A Short Hike and you've got yourself Fishards! The unique spell combining mechanic creates a brand new type of PvP arena experience that you have to try with friends!”

Fishards features five different elements that can be combined to produce unique sets of different effects. For example, combining two instances of Fire will cast rapid-fire bursts of flame, while combining Fire and Rock will create a flaming meteor that can go over rocks and other obstacles in the environment.

It's a small, fast-paced game with a charming art style, and I can already foresee multiplayer sessions with friends turning into frantic, button-mashy chaos that could be a lot of fun. Figuring out how each of the elements interacts with each other lends the game some depth, and quickly switching between them to create some interesting combos will certainly create some memorable moments. It personally kind of reminds me of playing Invoker in Dota 2, or Ninja in Final Fantasy XIV. Again, the Fishards release date is next month, on October 24, 2021, on Steam.

In other indie release date news, Breakwaters, an upcoming tropical survival-sim with some interesting water-physics manipulation mechanics, will also be releasing next month. For more information, check out our article here.
