Valorant Patch 4.01 is online and the Ares Meta is no more. With the hot fix of the gun online, the era of the LMG weapon Ares has come to an end. Riot made changes before to the gun to make it more relevant, however they made it too strong. The initial release of the patch removed the weapon's spin-up time and increased fire rate. By then the Ares became too overpowered for its price, given the damage output combating the 2 expensive rifles. The weapon was so affordable and efficient that players would buy the Ares whether they win or lose the pistol round. Regardless, they will have the firepower that combats a full buy already.
Now Riot decides to nerf the gun but keeps its firepower to keep the gun's relevance to the game. They then focused more on the difficulty to control the Ares by increasing the pitch recoil. They made spread spray activate earlier as well as lowered reduction of spread and recoil while crouching, 40% to 25%. The price also increased by 50 credits but that wouldn't make any drastic changes.
Valorant patch 4.01 also changed the mechanics for melee attacks having hitboxes now 1.5 times larger. Left-click melee attacks also has a slight increase on range. Besides this, they also included a feature called Muted Words List. This helps players filter the communications that are deemed inappropriate for them. Bonus as well, they have also fixed WideJoy or Rainfall Player Card Banner.

Without the Ares gun terrorizing the pubs of Valorant, the game state became more stable and back to normal. The Ares gun hopefully is still viable, and we hope to see it in pro play. That said, we'll never know what gun would be the next star of the patch that would shake the Valorant scene.
