One of the top priorities for the New York Giants heading into 2020 is to provide young quarterback Daniel Jones with adequate protection up front. Dave Gettleman knows this.

In order to do that, the Giants will definitely need to add some offensive linemen in the NFL Draft, as they don't exactly have a stout unit in front of Jones at the moment.

But general manager Dave Gettleman insists he isn't worried about it:

“We'll continue to build the offensive line,” Gettleman said during a conference call on Friday, per Kimberly Jones of NFL.com. “Is it a pressure point? To a degree. I'm not going to deny that. But it's about getting the right guy. It's about not panicking.”

New York owns the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft next week, and based on Gettleman's tone, it certainly sounds like the Giants will be going with an offensive lineman at that spot:

“It's very, very difficult for Saquon (Barkley) to run the ball if he doesn't have holes,” the Giants GM said. “It's going to be difficult for Daniel (Jones) to throw the ball when he's on his back.”

You do the math.

While Jones is certainly mobile enough to escape pressure, he was still sacked a hefty 38 times in 13 appearances and 12 starts in 2019, a clear indication that the kid needs some help.

Otherwise, Jones had an impressive rookie campaign, throwing for 3,027 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 61.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 87.7. He also rushed for 279 yards and a couple of scores, averaging 6.2 yards per carry.
