The New York Giants finally pulled the trigger and fired embattled head coach Ben McAdoo. This is not exactly a stunning turn of events, as reports surfaced on Sunday that this was likely to happen. Also of note, general manager Jerry Reese joins McAdoo in being forced out the office.

Jerry Reese had been with the Giants in various roles since 1994, serving as general manager since 2007. He was a part of two Super Bowls with the National Football League franchise.

McAdoo took over for Tom Coughlin after the 2015 season. It could be argued that it was the play of Eli Manning that gave Ben McAdoo the job, which make it weird when the coach decided to bench the veteran signal-caller.

His first year as Giants head coach was encouraging. They had an 11-5 record and ended a five-year playoff drought. This season has been, well, an objective disaster.

If you want to giggle at the expense of those fired, 24 hours ago, Big Bad Ben was signing weird tune.

According to Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com.

“I’m going to coach this team as long as my key card works,” the Giants skipper told reporters following Big Blue’s 24-17 loss to the Oakland Raiders. “You know, we’ve got a great group of players, the coaches, we’ve got a great staff to work with. We’re going to show up ready to go tomorrow and get this thing cleaned up and move on to the next one.”
