Just moments after it was reported that Landon Collins' contract with the Giants wouldn't be renewed, he seemed to confirm it with a tweet.

Earlier today, Josina Anderson reported that Collins was “cleaning out his locker” at the New York Giants' headquarters, and she speculated that he wouldn't be a Giant for much longer.

Today, with this tweet from Collins himself, it seems all but confirmed that he is done with the team.

This comes as a bit of a surprise to Giants fans, who were under the impression that Collins would get the franchise tag from the team before he left. It appears that things have changed.

While Collins had previously said that he was interested in being a “Giant for life,” he needn't worry too much about his next team. As we've previously reported, the Indianapolis Colts are expected to have interest in signing him.

The New York Daily News, however, feels that this is merely a power play on Landon Collins' part, as a ploy to get a long-term contract in place for him.

“It’s possible Collins’ agent is playing hardball to get a long-term contract discussion started for his pending free agent client. But it does not appear the Giants intend to trade him, as it seemed for a time on Wednesday when ESPN reported that it doesn’t seem Collins expects to be a Giant for much longer. Collins, 25, a three-time Pro Bowler and 2016 first-team All Pro in four seasons, is due to become an unrestricted free agent on March 13.”
