The New York Giants will face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night without one of their key members on the offense. According to Dan Duggan, Sterling Shepard won't play versus the Dallas Cowboys after going back into the concussion protocol.

Earlier this week, Shepard was able to clear the concussion protocol after missing the past three weeks. Shepard was able to return to practice for the first time since Week 5 and there was optimism that he would be able to play in Week 9.

Despite the optimism, Shepard began to feel some of the symptoms once again on Saturday night. The Giants' No. 1 wideout continued to feel the same on Sunday morning and the team has decided to place him back in the concussion protocol.

This is devastating news for the Giants, who could use some help at wide receiver. Above all, it's worrisome to see Shepard reacquire the symptoms that plagued him over the past month.

Without a doubt, New York will be cautious with Shepard before allowing him to return to the team again. While Shepard remains out, Golden Tate, Darius Slayton, and Evan Engram will have to continue being the go-to options for Daniel Jones.

New York is amid a three-game losing streak and seven-point underdogs to Dallas on Monday Night Football.

The Giants are 2-5 as they enter Week 9 but a win over the Cowboys could amazingly propel them back into the NFC East race. The chances of them defeating the Cowboys have taken a blow with the news that Shepard won't be able to suit up.
