Glen Powell has become a star. And at the Hit Man premiere, the Anyone But You star was humbled by his parents.
Netflix posted an image of Powell on the red carpet for Hit Man. He brought his parents with him to attend it, who both held signs behind him to troll him. “Stop trying to make Glen Powell happen,” his mom's sign read. “It's never gonna happen,” his father's sign added.

Obviously, this was done in jest. It was funny to see Powell's parents troll him at one of the biggest premieres of his young career.
Hit Man was co-written by Powell and Richard Linklater (the latter directed the film). Linklater gained notoriety for directing Dazed and Confused in 1993. He subsequently directed the Before trilogy, School of Rock, and Boyhood.
The story is based on a true story from the Texas Monthly. Powell plays an undercover cop who poses as a hitman for hire in an attempt to arrest those who try and hire him. He's also trying to save a young woman.
Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, and Retta also star in the film.
Hit Man held its world premiere on September 5, 2023, at the Venice International Film Festival. The film was subsequently screened at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Netflix then acquired the distribution rights for the film. The film will receive a theatrical release on May 24 before hitting Netflix on June 7.
Glen Powell's movies and TV shows

Early in his career, Powell gained notoriety for his roles in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and TV series such as Endurance, CSI: Miami, and NCIS.
His breakthrough came in Scream Queens. Powell starred in the first season of the series as Chad Radwell and returned in a recurring role capacity for the second season.
In addition to Scream Queens, Powell led the voice cast of a few seasons of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous. He also voiced a character in an episode of Rick and Morty in 2023.
On the big screen, Powell had roles in The Dark Knight Rises, The Expendables 3, Ride Along 2, Hidden Figures, and Set It Up. He first collaborated with Linklater by starring in his film, Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood. He led the voice cast as Bostick.
Later in that same year, Powell starred in Top Gun: Maverick, raising his profile astronomically. He played Lieutenant Jake “Hangman” Seresin in the film and starred alongside Tom Cruise and Miles Teller. Powell closed out his year by starring in Devotion, which he also executive produced.
He rode that momentum into 2023. Powell starred in Hit Man and also the rom-com Anyone But You with Sydney Sweeney. The latter film was a huge hit, grossing over $200 million worldwide at the box office. A sequel could be in the works, as Powell said that “ideas are being batted around” in a recent interview.
Coming up, Powell will lead Lee Isaac Chung's Twisters, a standalone sequel to Twister. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos will also star in the film.
Hit Man will be released in theaters on May 24 and Netflix on June 7.
