Tiger Woods hasn't competed in a PGA Tour event in over a year, yet he's still raking in the money. Tiger was just handed the tour's inaugural Player Impact Program bonus, which is based on a player's popularity. Woods won the top prize of $8 million then proceeded to roast Phil Mickelson, the runner-up, who seemed to believe in December that he would easily take home the honors:

Tiger Woods coming in hot. Mickelson isn't going to love that absolutely savage shot but hey, he still raked in $6 million by finishing second. Tiger has spent the last year recovering from his scary car accident last February, where he suffered numerous leg injuries. While it's unknown if he will return to the tour at any point, Woods has participated in events with his son, Charlie, who is quite the player himself.
The funniest part is, Mickelson tweeted that a few months ago. He firmly believed he was the most popular player on the PGA Tour. Think again, Phil. You're talking about Tiger Woods and after his horrific incident, more fans of golf were even more invested in how the 15-time major champion was recovering. It definitely helped his popularity but above all, we just want to see Woods on the course again. I'm sure he won't mind the payday, though.
