Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant isn't in the best of moods. The 21-year-old guard was ejected on Monday against the New York Knicks after receiving his second technical foul. His ejection ultimately sealed the fate of the Grizzlies, who continue to fight for a top-eight spot in the Western Conference.
Morant was furious after the ejection and went straight to Twitter to air his thoughts following their 118-104 loss. He threw some shade on the referees for what he felt was the wrong decision.
Ya'll want butter with your popcorn?
The reigning Rookie of the Year continues to try and find his identity in the NBA. He struggled against the surging Knicks and clearly let his frustrations get the best of him. Morant finished with just eight points on an awful 2-of-14 shooting and had to exit the floor in the game's final minute after his pair of technical fouls.
It was definitely a winnable game with the Grizzlies battling back after being down by as much as 17 points in the second half. They cut the lead all the way down to five points but an array of technical fouls spoiled their comeback. The Grizzlies were slapped with five technical fouls in a span of 18 seconds, including two each for Morant and coach Taylor Jenkins.
Warranted or not, the ejections put the game out of reach for the Grizzlies. Ja Morant and company need to keep their cool in their remaining games if they want to have a chance to make it to the play-in tournament.
