Why Illinois Will Cover The Spread

Illinois should be able to score at a high rate in this game. For starters, the Illini score 81.7 points per game. They do not shoot to well from the field, but they play at such a fast pace that they make the third most field goals per game. The Illini are going to be able to play at this fast pace in this game, which will only work to their benefit.

Michigan does not play defense very well. Michigan allows 77.0 points per game this season, which is the second-worst in the Big10. The Wolverines allow the fourth-best field goal percentage, and third-best three-point percentage in the Big10, as well. With that said, Illinois is going to put up a lot of points in this game.

Why Michigan Will Cover The Spread

Michigan needs to find a way to keep up offensively in this game. Illinois plays at a high pace, so the Wolverines will get plenty of chances to score in this game. Michigan is fourth in the Big10 with 79.7 points per game, sixth in field goal percentage, and second in three-point percentage. If Michigan can find a way to have a good shooting day, they will be able to cover this spread, and maybe even pull off the upset.

Michigan is playing at home in this game. They are not a great team, but four of their seven wins have come in Ann Arbor. It is very important to note how hard it is to play on the road in college, especially in the sport of basketball. Playing at Michigan will be just as hard as it is to play anywhere else. Because of this, the Wolverines have a great chance to pull off an upset if they shoot the ball well.

Final Illinois-Michigan Prediction & Pick

This game is hard to predict because you never know what Michigan team you will get. Same with Illinois. However, Juwan Howard really struggles against Illinois. Because of this, I am going to take Illinois to cover the spread.

Final Illinois-Michigan Prediction & Pick: Illinois -1.5 (-114)
