Jackson State head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders recently underwent foot surgery which resulted in the loss of two toes. The 54-year-old spent a total of three weeks in a Mississippi hospital before going under the knife for the procedure.

The whole journey was detailed on an episode of the SMAC Entertainment and Barstool Sports series, Coach Prime, where Sanders said he also lost 35 pounds. He lost his big toe and his second toe was amputated on his left foot.

Essentially, doctors diagnosed Sanders with three femoral arterial blood clots, which is considered to be a life-threatening situation. It caused him to use a wheelchair towards the latter part of Jackson State's season. The blood cuts began in his calf but eventually went through his entire left leg. It eventually resulted in compartment syndrome, which causes immense muscle pressure that can limit the flow of blood and oxygen.

When doctors told Sanders he needed to get surgery, he immediately called his mother and she revealed that other members of their family have died from blood clots in the past.

It was a very scary situation for Deion Sanders but thankfully, he got through the operation and is now on the mend. Losing two toes is far from ideal, but at least Showtime is alive and well.
