The Jacksonville Jaguars just attempted to trade Leonard Fournette, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he isn't in their long-term plans. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jacksonville will not pick up Fournette's fifth-year option.

All 32 teams have until May 3 to decide whether or not to exercise their fifth-year options on first-round picks from the 2017 NFL Draft. Therefore, just a couple days before the deadline, the Jaguars are making it clear they aren't going to move forward with Fournette.
Just last season, Fournette put together the best season of his three-year career in Jacksonville. The LSU product rushed for a career-best 1,152 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
On the other hand, he flashed upside as a receiver, catching 76 passes for 522 yards. The 76 receptions that he produced in 2019 were more than he had combined in his first two seasons in the NFL.
Article Continues BelowWhile Fournette may have had his best season, he and the Jaguars haven't exactly had a perfect relationship. Near the end of the 2018 season, Fournette was suspended one game following a scuffle he had versus the Buffalo Bills.
As a result of the suspension, all of Fournette's guarantees were negated by Jacksonville. It goes without saying that Fournette wasn't very happy about the Jaguars' decision to void his guarantees.
Prior to the 2020 NFL Draft, the Jaguars attempted to trade Fournette to no avail. Nevertheless, after failing to find a trade partner, by not exercising his fifth-year option, they are assuring that 2020 will be his last year with the team.
Above all, it will be another player from Jacksonville's 2017 playoff roster that is set to move on from the franchise.
