The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without the services of Gardner Minshew going into Week 9 against the Houston Texans. While Minshew tried to battle through a thumb injury sustained in Week 5 against the Texans, the injury woes became apparent after a lackluster performance against the Los Angeles Chargers. Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone now says rookie quarterback Jake Luton will get the starter reps on practice and is in line to get the start, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

As a rookie, Luton hasn't seen any action during his first season in the league. Seeing him slotted into the QB1 spot ahead of veteran Mike Glennon will definitely be a topic worth keeping tabs on ahead of Sunday. Luton finished his college career at Oregon State, completing 62.0 percent of his passes during his final season for 2,714 yards and 28 touchdowns. He only threw three interceptions during his final year as well.

Glennon, on the other hand, could give some additional experience from the field general position, which could be beneficial against the Texans' defense. While he hasn't seen major playing time in recent years, he does know the NFL game better than the rookie.

Marrone will likely see both quarterbacks assume additional snaps in practice as he continues to weigh his options ahead of Sunday. The Jaguars suffered a 30-14 loss to the Texans back in Week 5.

Jacksonville is just 1-6 on the season and in line to get a high draft pick in 2021. That may mean yet another new quarterback.
