Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey is leaving Jacksonville to be with his wife for the birth of his daughter, Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said in a statement (via Adam Schefter of ESPN).

Marrone says that Ramsey notified him of the impending child birth months ago. He added that Ramsey was with the team at practice on Wednesday (but sat out with a sore back) and will be flying out to Nashville on Wednesday night after meetings.

Marrone concluded his statement that Ramsey will return to the team when he is ready.

Ramsey has experienced a whirlwind over the last couple of weeks.

During the Jaguars' Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans, Ramsey got into a heated sideline confrontation with Marrone, and after a postgame meeting with Jags executives, he asked the team for a trade.

Ramsey would go on to participate in Jacksonville's Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans, but many surmised that that would mark his last game as a member of the Jaguars.

Jacksonville has been reported to be seeking two first-round draft picks in a trade for Ramsey and have had offers, but the Jags haven't seemed to have made any progress in trade discussions.

Ramsey called out sick earlier this week, fueling speculation that he could end up holding out until the Jaguars traded him. Then, as stated earlier, he missed Wednesday's practice with a back issue.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Ramsey has logged 18 tackles and a forced fumble through three games in 2018.

Jacksonville will take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
