It is no secret that Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette is coming off a disastrous 2018 campaign. Fortunately, it seems he is showing signs of a potential resurgence in the 2019 NFL season.

Fournette has been open about some of the drastic changes he made this offseason. He admitted that dropping weight was one of them during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio:

“You can make a lot of certain cuts you probably couldn't make at 240 or whatever the case may be. It feels more natural at this low weight,” Fournette said. “Still strong. During the offseason, I still lifted weights, I ran a lot more, ate more healthier and it paid off.”

Last season for Fournette was plagued by issues both on and off the field. As a result, the Jaguars heavily indicated that 2019 would be a deciding year for the once-promising workhorse back.

After re-examining his inner circle and making a commitment to eat better, it is safe to say that he is taking the right steps toward becoming the Jaguars' go-to option once again.

Fournette's role in Jacksonville's offense has proven to be a fruitful one when he is healthy and in shape. While that was certainly not the case last season, the Jaguars have since brought in some key pieces that can help put them back on the right track.

Regardless, all eyes will be on whether or not the former fourth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft can return to the promise he had shown as a rookie.
