It look a little bit after initial reports said the Jacksonville Jaguars would be signing Tim Tebow and reuniting him with Urban Meyer, but now it's finally official. Tebow is back in the NFL after signing a contract on Thursday morning, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Tebow will join the Jaguars on the field Thursday as a member of their offseason program. Remember, the 33-year-old is not coming back to the NFL to play quarterback, but instead he's trying to be a tight end. He's embracing the challenge ahead of him after not being in the NFL since 2015 and not playing a real game since 2012.

There has been some consternation around the NFL and reportedly even within the Jaguars organization about bringing Tim Tebow in since it has been so long since he played football. Many believe his spot should have gone to a player with a better chance of making the team and making an impact. This may have been why it took so long for him to join the team after it was first reported.

Tebow has the benefit of being a star for Meyer while playing at Florida, which almost certainly played a huge role in this decision. Meyer recently explained the reasoning for signing Tebow, lauding his work ethic and physical condition.

Tim Tebow just spent the last few years trying to make it in professional baseball. He toiled in the minors but didn't make it to the big leagues. He's now trying his hand at football once again and will try to prove doubters wrong by making it in the NFL as a tight end.
