The Jacksonville Jaguars are interested in signing free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Jaguars are widely expected to sign Nick Foles, but until then, they are exploring all of their options, and Bridgewater is certainly an interesting one.

Bridgewater spent the 2018 campaign as Drew Brees' backup with the New Orleans Saints, making one start and completing 14 of his 23 passes for 118 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Louisville, was originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round (32nd pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He made 12 starts during his rookie campaign, throwing for 2,919 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 64.4 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 85.2. Then, the following year, Bridgewater made the Pro Bowl after finishing with 3,231 yards, 14 touchdowns, and nine picks, completing 65.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 88.7.

Then, in 2016 training camp, Bridgewater suffered a devastating knee injury where he tore his ACL and dislocated his knee joint. He missed the entire 2016 campaign and then played in just one game with the Vikings in 2017 before signing with the New York Jets in March 2018. However, his stint with the Jets was very brief, as the Jets then dealt him to the Saints back in August.

While the jury is still out on whether or not Bridgewater can still be effective as a starter, he could potentially represent a low-risk, high-reward pickup for some team.
