Nick Foles got his first live-action as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night. He also threw his first touchdown wearing black and teal, as he found wide receiver Dede Westbrook in the corner of the end zone off of a play-action pass against the Miami Dolphins.

Foles also threw his first interception as a Jaguar. Nonetheless, his touchdown marks his first score as a Jaguar and begins the Foles-era in Jacksonville.

Foles signed a four-year, $88 million deal with the Jaguars to kick off free agency; in a corresponding move, Blake Bortles was released.

As most can recall, Foles is famed for his efforts as the backup quarterback to Carson Wentz. In 2017, he stepped in for the starter and proceeded to lead the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl, beating the New England Patriots and winning Super Bowl MVP in the process.

In 2018, Foles once again stepped in for an injured Wentz. He led an Eagles team with a losing record to the playoffs and won a game, and nearly got himself to another NFC Championship.

As for Westbrook, he's entering his third season in Jacksonville and is fully entrenched as a starter. In 2018, the former Oklahoma Sooner caught 66 passes for 717 yards and five touchdowns. He believes that Foles is the person that will take the Jaguars over the top, as he recently said, via the Florida Times Union‘s John Reid,

“Nothing against Blake [Bortles] at all, Blake is a great friend of mine, but to be out there with Nick [Foles], a Super Bowl MVP quarterback, obviously that’s what we’ve been lacking.”

It appears as if Westbrook's praise for Foles is working.
