The boxing match between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury is officially off after the latter failed to gain entry into the United States. After months of going back and forth on social media, Fury and Paul will not enter the ring after all, but the YouTuber turned boxer has already lined up a surprise opponent to fill Fury's void. According to Ariel Helwani, the Aug. 6 boxing match at Madison Square Garden will still take place, though Paul's opponent will now be Hasim Rahman Jr.

While Rahman Jr. may not be quite as big of a name as Fury, he's certainly a more seasoned boxer. Rahman Jr. is the son of former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, who is best known for knocking out the renowned Lennox Lewis in the heyday of his career.

Rahman Jr. enters the fight with a 12-1 boxing record, and despite coming off of the first loss of his career, he figures to be an intriguing opponent for Paul, who has skirted by with wins against washed up MMA fighters trying their hand in the boxing ring in order to cash a quick payday.

From an entertainment perspective, this fight may not have the big-name draw that a Fury-Paul showdown would provide, but folks who wanted to see Paul take on a real boxer are finally getting their wish.

The Tommy Fury-Jake Paul fight dream isn't entirely dead, either. While Fury was unable to gain entry to the U.S., he did offer to fight Paul at a neutral site at a location they'd both be able to access, however, when Paul offered a $500,000 fight, Fury once again balked.
