Jasmine Paolini takes on Mirra Andreeva at the French Open. Our French Open odds series has our Paolini Andreeva prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Paolini Andreeva.

The French Open was close to producing semifinals with the top four seeds. If it had happened, it would have been the first time a women's major singles tournament had placed all top four seeds in the semifinals since 2009 Wimbledon (Dinara Safina, Elena Dementieva, Serena Williams, and Venus Williams). It would have been the first time the French Open would have placed its top four seeds in the semifinals since 1992 (Monica Seles, Steffi Graf, Gabriela Sabatini, Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario).

No. 1 Iga Swiatek and No. 3 Coco Gauff secured their spots in the semis. Wednesday featured No. 4 Elena Rybakina and No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka, who were trying to complete the final four in France by creating a piece of tennis history.

The underdogs had other ideas.

Jasmine Paolini reached her first major semifinal by knocking off Rybakina, 6-4 in the third set. Paolini lost her winning edge late in the second set as Rybakina rallied to win the set and tie the match at one set apiece, but Paolini showed great composure by regathering herself in the third set to fend off the 2022 Wimbledon champion. It was a hugely impressive performance by the Italian veteran, who is 28 years old. That's young for a human being, but it is middle age for a tennis player. Paolini now plays an even bigger match on Thursday, one win from a major final.

Mirra Andreeva watched Aryna Sabalenka struggle on the court, in obvious discomfort due to feeling unwell. Sabalenka took medication during a changeover in the first set. Sabalenka won the first set, however, and it was hard to be optimistic about Andreeva's odds at that point. Yet, the 17-year-old Russian stayed the course, won the second set, and did not relent in the third. She joined Paolini as an upset winner in a three-set quarterfinal. There will be a first-time major finalist regardless of the result of this match.

Why Jasmine Paolini Could Cover The Spread

The spread of 1.5 games for this match means that it is basically a toss-up. Nearly all of the tennis matches we have previewed over the past week and a half have had a game spread of at least 5.5 games. There has been a clear favorite and a clear underdog. Not so in this match. It's very simple: With a spread this small, you should bet on the player you think will win the match, at least if you think there's a clear winner here. If you think this match will be 4-4 in the third set, the bet you will want to make is for either player to go over the games won total.

Why Mirra Andreeva Could Cover The Spread

If you think Andreeva will win, bet on her minus 1.5 games. It's just 1.5 games. It is true that a tennis player can lose more games but win the match. Example: A player wins 7-6, 2-6, 6-4. The player wins 15 games and loses 16, but wins. However, that scenario is rare. Usually, the player who wins more games wins the match. If you think Andreeva will win, bet on her.

Final Jasmine Paolini-Mirra Andreeva Prediction & Pick

Paolini is a veteran player while Andreeva is just 17 years old. Andreeva is likely to win major championships in the future, but this might be Paolini's moment. However, you don't even have to pick an outright or spread winner. Total games is a good play here. Andreeva under 12.5 games would mean she would have to win this in straight sets and not win seven games in either set. That seems unlikely. This is probably a three-set match. Andreeva might lose, but she should win over 12.5 games. It's a plus-money price, too.

Final Jasmine Paolini-Mirra Andreeva Prediction & Pick: Andreeva over 12.5 games
