The Las Vegas Raiders have been slapped with fines stemming from multiple violations against the league's COVID-19 health protocols. Coach Jon Gruden recently opened up about the matter, and as it appears, he feels the team still did everything they could have.

According to Gruden, he stands by how the Raiders have been handling the pandemic:

“I’m just going to say, very proud of our organization, how we have handled this entire protocol and this entire process and I’m not going to comment any further than that,” Gruden said Friday, via the Associated Press (h/t Mike Florio of NBC Sports). “I believe we’re on the cutting edge of being the best at servicing players and I’ll leave it at that.”

Needless to say, Gruden remains adamant that they have done little wrong. Not even fines that have now accumulated to more than $1 million is going to change his mind. It is worth noting that Gruden himself has been fined $250,000 for his own violations.

Moreover, it's not just a matter of money for the Raiders, who've also been penalized with “removal of draft capital (so far, a sixth-round pick), and game-day competitive disadvantages, with players missing practices or games due to the league’s protocols after a positive test.”

It's unclear if the Raiders have any intention of making the necessary changes within their organization to ensure that they are no longer slapped with even more penalties by the NFL. For their sake, we hope that serves as a wakeup call. It's not as if the league will be bending its rules anytime soon.
