New York Yankees superstar Juan Soto missed Friday's loss to the rival Los Angeles Dodgers with left forearm inflammation after being pulled out during a rain delay against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night.

On Saturday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone gave an update on Soto's condition, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com

“It's going to at least be a couple of days,” Boone said.

The Yankees skipper also mentioned the IL as a possibility, also per Hoch: “Aaron Boone said that the IL is a possibility for Juan Soto, but he does not expect that to be the case.”

Soto spoke out on the injury after Friday's loss.

“It was what I was looking for,” Soto said about his MRI results. “Just trying to see what was really going on with my elbow. We were thinking a little bit about how it was going to be like and thank God it came back that way.”

“It's a relief,” the Yankees' star continued. “It was a tough spot where my elbow was kind of right there, but now I feel good.”

When asked if he had an estimated return date, he said “We'll see for the next couple days how I feel. We're going to do day by day.”

As the Yankees continue to roll past the competition, their players are now getting individual honors for their prowess.

Soto earned AL Player of the Week honors two weeks ago after going 10-for-23 (.435) with two triples, three homers, four walks, and a hefty 1.500 OPS over six games. The slugger hit two long balls in Sunday's matchup with the Giants, including a two-run shot in the ninth inning to give the Yankees a 6-5 lead that they never relinquished.

Teammate Aaron Judge earned AL Player of the Month honors for May as he showed why he's playing on one of the most expensive deals in MLB history. The five-time All-Star slashed .371/.488/.928 with 14 homers in May, after hitting .174 through April 22nd. After a slow start to the season, he now leads the league with 21 home runs and a 1.075 OPS.

Additionally, right-handed hurler Luis Gil is the AL Pitcher and Rookie of the Month for May. He recorded a 6-0 record in May, with a 0.70 ERA and 0.67 WHIP across 38.2 innings. The Dominican international led the league in wins, WHIP, and opponents' batting average (.109), ranking second in ERA and innings. He also ranked third in strikeouts (44).

The Yankees are currently 45-20, just a half-game behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the best record in baseball.

New York takes on the rival Dodgers again on Saturday as Nestor Cortes takes the mound against Gavin Stone.
