The Kentucky Wildcats take on the Florida Gators in Omaha, Nebraska. Our College World Series odds package has our Kentucky Florida prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Kentucky Florida.

The elmination games continue at the College World Series. Florida and Kentucky are locked in a battle for survival, with the winner getting a second shot at Texas A&M. The Aggies are the winners’ bracket leaders, 2-0 through two games and sitting in the catbird seat in the push for the CWS Championship Series. They defeated each of these teams to occupy their position of leverage. The winner of this Florida-Kentucky game will stay alive in Omaha, but it would then have to beat A&M two straight times to make the CWS final. This game, it should also be said, is a makeup of a rained-out Tuesday game. These teams were originally scheduled to play Tuesday evening in Nebraska, but are now being made to play a mid-morning game on Wednesday before Tennessee faces Florida State in the other side of the bracket at 3 p.m. Eastern. The UF-UK winner faces A&M later on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Eastern, so this game will be the first of two on Wednesday for the winning side.

Precisely because the winner plays later on Wednesday, it will be important for both the Gators and Wildcats to get through this game without fully depleting their respective bullpens. Obviously, winning — surviving — comes first, but the Gators and Big Blue will try to manage these nine innings in a way which gives them the best chance of beating Texas A&M later on Wednesday.

Why Kentucky Could Cover The Spread

Kentucky lost to Texas A&M because the Wildcats could not get clutch hits. Kentucky’s pitching was not at its very best, but it wouldn’t have mattered, given how UK failed to hit the baseball. Expect Kentucky to hit better in this game against a Florida staff which, over the course of the full regular season, was not especially consistent. Kentucky’s pitching has been more reliable than Florida’s over a longer period of time. That makes the Wildcats more trustworthy than the Gators.

Why Florida Could Cover The Spread

The Gators don’t have to get elite pitching to win; they just need very good pitching. This team can score; it posted five runs in its win over North Carolina State the other day. If this game goes over the total (11.5 runs), it is more likely than not that Florida will win. This is something to consider as a bettor: Fold the Florida spread pick with an over bet. (Conversely, if you are sold on Kentucky, lean to the under.)

Final Kentucky-Florida Prediction & Pick

This is more likely to be a close game than not, but this is also college baseball, where over-under totals are in double figures even in a pitcher-friendly ballpark in Omaha. Relying on a college baseball game to be a one-run game is not the wisest betting approach we can think of. We’re leaning to Florida versus the spread, but our official recommendation is to stay away.

Final Kentucky-Florida Prediction & Pick: Florida +1.5
