Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson had a night to remember, pouring a career-high 60 points in the span of three quarters as his team blew out the Indiana Pacers yet again, 142-106.

Teammate Kevin Durant enjoyed the fireworks during the game, but in retrospect, he thinks the hot-handed Thompson could've added a lot more to his tally.

“He should’ve had 80, to be honest,” Durant told Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News. “He took 14 threes. The six he missed were probably open. He missed a free throw, got his layup blocked. We talked about it on the bench. He said he should’ve had 70. I said you could’ve had 80-plus. But he had to be perfect to do that.”

This is the type of approach Thompson's father, Mychal, would have with him after the game. Hindsight is a beautiful thing, but in reality, we'll all be wondering just how many points he could've scored the same the way people wonder how many points Kobe Bryant could've scored when he had 62 against the Dallas Mavericks after three quarters, back in 2005.

While perfection rarely comes in basketball history, even more for a guy who already has a perfect quarter in his long list of heroic achievements, the potential for reaching 80 points could have been a reality had he played a few extra minutes.

Going by the numbers: Thompson played 29 of a possible 36 minutes and had a consistently compact scoring run of 17, 23, and 20 in each quarter, making yet another 20-point quarter a very real possibility.
