Despite the fact that the Sacramento Kings missed out on the playoffs yet again this year, the front office's confidence in head coach Luke Walton remains steadfast. So much so, that the Kings have reportedly decided to keep Walton on for the coming season.

This report comes via James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area:

There was a lot of talk heading into the offseason with regards to Walton's future in Sacramento. The team has been unable to live up to expectations in the two seasons he's been at the helm, and for some folks, this meant that a change at the top was looming.

The Kings, however, still believe in Walton and they are confident that he's the right man for the job. They also did not take long before making a decision on Walton's future, as they look to clear a significant hurdle even before their preparations for the new season commence.

Prior to this report, Walton himself said that “I'm not concerned at all” when talking about his job security. For him, the focus has to be on the positive takeaways from what turned out to be a rather disappointing campaign. As it turns out, there was good reason for Walton to feel confident about retaining his post as the Kings' head coach.

Sacramento finished the season with a 31-41 record, which incidentally, is the exact same record they had last season in Walton's debut year. This season marks the Kings' 15th consecutive campaign without playoffs basketball.
