Sacramento Kings sophomore Marvin Bagley III has missed majority of the 2019-20 season due to a foot injury. However, he will reportedly join the team when the season resumes later this month.

According to Jason Jones of The Athletic, Kings coach Luke Walton said the former no.2 overall pick has looked good in their workouts, primarily in playing at the four and five positions. He also shared his vision for Bagley to eventually evolve into a “positionless” player moving forward.

Marvin Bagley II has only appeared in 13 games this 2019-20 season before the campaign was suspended last March. In those outings, he netted averages of 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds.

The Duke standout has had an underwhelming start to his career so far, mainly because he has struggled to stay on the floor. In his rookie campaign, Bagley played just 62 games. Nonetheless, he still made the All-Rookie First Team with averages of 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds while shooting 50.4 percent from the field.

Bagley had reportedly put on some muscle during the NBA hiatus. He said he is now up to 240 punds entering the “bubble” games, coming from around 230 lbs. prior to the season's suspension.

Given the amount of time he has missed, however, it is still unknown how big of a role Bagley will have when Sacramento returns to play the eight seeding games. If Luke Walton doesn't put any restrictions on him, the Kings will certainly need Bagley to step his game up if they want to make a run for a postseason berth.

The Kings head into Disney World in Orlando, Florida as the no.11 seed in the Western Conference. Record-wise, they are tied with the New Orleans Pelicans with a 28-36 mark — 3.5 games back of the eighth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies.
