The New York Knicks are all-in on their recruitment campaign for Kevin Durant after putting up a billboard at Madison Square Garden featuring himself along with Knicks injured forward Kristaps Porzingis, posing with the NBA championship trophy. The Golden State Warriors superstar forward was quick to dismiss the gesture, saying that those things don't really impress him.

However, Marc Berman of The New York Post suggests that the franchise may actually have a shot at the two-time Finals MVP.

There’s reason to believe KD will have the Knicks on his radar — as opposed to 2015. Rich Kleiman, born and bred in Manhattan, growing up a diehard Knicks fan, was at the Garden for Friday’s matchup. Kleiman is Durant’s manager/agent. Knicks president Steve Mills and Kleiman go way back. At least the Knicks will be kept in the loop if there’s even a chance.

Durant and his agent, Rich Kleiman are known to be very close friends. Kleiman has worked hard to get KD the best opportunities. As Durant gets a hold of those opportunities, Kleiman surely benefits from the fruits of his labor.

The former MVP showed out for the Garden crowd in the Warriors' 128-100 win over the franchise on Friday night. Durant scored a season-high 41 points. New York was fought well through three quarters before Durant dropped 25 in the fourth to finally put the Knicks to bed.

After the game, Durant said he enjoys playing in MSG, and compared the atmosphere to playing in the famous playground, Rucker Park.

“It’s like a playground with walls,” Durant said of the Garden. “You walk outside and you’re right on the street. It feels like you’re playing at Rucker Park, just indoors.”

With the KD sweepstakes heating up, Kleiman will definitely have his work cut out for him. Though the connections are there for the Knicks, what's really important is what Durant ultimately wants at that point in his career.

But that's still in June 2019. We still have a whole season of basketball left.
