Per a Team USA source, New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is dealing with a knee injury that has been bothering him throughout workouts. If Robinson is forced to pull out from the camp, he will be the second Knicks player to drop out. Recent Knicks acquisition Julius Randle also left Team USA for personal reasons.

Robinson is one of the key pieces of a New York team that is in full rebuild. The 7'1 big man had a very promising rookie season in which he averaged 7.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game while shooting 69.4 percent from the field.

The Knicks believe that Robinson has the potential to be the teams center of the future. Already, he is a lockdown interior defender, consistently swatting away shots that look to be far out of reach.

While his offensive game remains a work in progress, he is a solid rim-runner and a lob threat. He seems like he could be molded into a DeAndre Jordan or Jarrett Allen type player with another year of progress.

Hopefully, the injury is not a serious one. The Team USA camp could use a player of Robinson's caliber after losing countless NBA stars who want to focus on the upcoming season.  Additionally, the international service could jumpstart Robinson's season and he could get a head start off improving his solid rookie campaign.

Here's hoping the big man is back to full health ASAP.
