Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis is widely expected to sign a new deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

As for when that happens, Laker fans shouldn't exactly hold their breath.

According to ESPN's ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Davis and his Klutch Sports team, led by Rich Paul may take their time before joining the Lakers at the negotiating table.

“Paul, will be in contact with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka after 6 p.m. Friday,” Woj writes, “but Davis plans to wait minimally through Thanksgiving as he considers his options on the length and structure of maximum contract deals.”

The NBA's free agency period formally begins at 6 p.m. ET on Friday.

As expected, Davis opted out of his $28.7 million player option to become an unrestricted free agent, with the aim of negotiating a more lucrative long-term deal with Los Angeles.

As Woj points out, the 27-year-old will have several options to choose from, in terms of the construction of his new contract.

“A three-year, $106 million deal that would include a player option on the 2022-23 season — a structure that would align Davis with the end of LeBron James' deal. Davis could do a two-year, $68 million deal with an option after next year — or longer deals for four years ($146.7M) and five years ($189M).”

Considering Davis' relationship with James, the Lakers' ties to Klutch, the moves Davis pulled to force a trade to L.A., and—oh, yeah—the championship the Lakers just won, it would be extremely stunning if Davis looked to sign elsewhere.

Davis averaged 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game in his first season in L.A., earning a spot on the All-NBA First Team. He was even better in the playoffs, putting up 27.7 points per game shooting 57.1 percent from the floor, 38.3 from 3-point range, and 83.2 percent from the free throw line while dominating on the defensive end in the bubble.
