Los Angeles Lakers guard Danny Green received criticism from fans when he missed a potential game-winning shot in Game 5 of the 2020 NBA Finals that could've already ended the series for the Purple and Gold. Instead, the Lakers went on to suffer a 111-108 loss to the Miami Heat which extended the Finals series to a Game 6.

A week after winning the franchise's 17th title, the veteran swingman revealed that he played through Achilles pain all throughout which never showed up on the team's injury report, according to Harrison Faigen.

Danny Green finished Game 5 with a total of eight points, a rebound, and an assist made through 24 minutes as a starter. After hearing the criticism, he aimed to bounce back and eventually recorded 11 points, five rebounds, and an assist through 25 minutes in Game 6 which ended on a 106-93 outcome.

The pain could've also played a role in Green's diminished performance and ultimately limited his level of productivity for the Lakers. He struggled all throughout the course of the 2020 NBA Playoffs and never found his rhythm on the floor. He only averaged a meager output of 8.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists through 17 games played. Despite his shooting slump, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel continued to put his trust on Green as he remained a regular starter for the team all throughout the playoffs.

With the 2020 NBA championship won in the Orlando bubble, he is now a three-time champion in the league. The upcoming offseason should be interesting to see if the Lakers will choose to bring back the 11-year veteran at the helm after signing him to a two-year $30 million contract in July of 2019.
