Many pundits are claiming the Los Angeles Lakers' 2020 championship deserves an asterisk, something head coach Frank Vogel doesn't agree with.

In an interview with Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register, Vogel fired back at the critics who are dismissing the Lakers' title over the Miami Heat.

“To endure that type of intense pressure environment, where every detail is scrutinized, where the intensity was high, to endure those meetings with no outlet of family, or whatever single guys would be doing, without an outlet, was one of the biggest challenges,” Los Angeles head coach Frank Vogel said.

“It was a credit to all the participants to lean on and to support each other.”

The Lakers, behind the dominant play of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, defeated the Heat in six games. Vogel's group only lost five games in the entire 2020 playoffs.

Let's be honest here. The only reason people are saying the Lakers' championship deserves an asterisk is because of LeBron. For whatever reason, The King gets a lot of unwarranted hate on social media, as some fans still haven't forgiven him for creating the Big 3 on the Heat with Dwyane and Chris Bosh in 2010. The announcement of his departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers on ESPN's “The Decision” also caught a lot of negative reactions.

James is now the only player in NBA history to win three Finals MVP awards with three different teams. The Lakers are certainly grateful LeBron signed with them in 2018, eventually delivering title no. 17 in franchise history.
