Veteran forward Jared Dudley has a new team next season, and he feels strongly about his Los Angeles Lakers. Per Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen & Roll, Dudley “wouldn't have accepted” an offer by the crosstown rival LA Clippers.

The Clippers are also loading a super team comprised of All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Leonard, bringing championship pedigree from his stints with the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs, has new teammates in guys like Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Landry Shamet, and Montrezl Harrell. That, plus former Lakers executive pitching the Clippers, wouldn't be enough for the 34-year-old Dudley to sign with the red and blue LA team.

Dudley also mentioned the Lakers' “brand,” playing with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and the ability to compete for a championship as the deciding factors to ink a one-year, veteran minimum deal with LA.

The Lakers acquired Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans in June for multiple first-round picks and young players Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and Lonzo Ball.

Dudley joins a Lakers team that also brought in DeMarcus Cousins and Danny Green this offseason; plus, LA re-signed point guard Rajon Rondo. The four-time All-Star Cousins, fresh off his first and only trip to the NBA postseason with the Golden State Warriors, played with Rondo and Davis in New Orleans during the 2017-18 season.

The Clippers had to give up five first-round picks, plus 21-year-old Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and forward Danilo Gallinari, for George, who asked for a trade to his hometown LA to join Leonard with the Clippers.

Dudley, a 12-year NBA veteran, has averaged 7.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in 847 appearances, shooting 46.5% from the floor, 39.2% from behind the 3-point arc, and 73.2% from the free throw line in his career.
