Detroit Pistons fans were having flashbacks of the Malice at the Palace on Sunday night as Isaiah Stewart was ready to rumble with LeBron James during their clash against the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron was eventually ejected from the contest. The Lakers star exited with 10 points, keeping his longstanding double-digit scoring streak alive, but not before getting a solid karate chop in on Stewart's head.

Asked for his interpretation of the play, referee Scott Foster, crew chief for the Pistons-Lakers game, gave his objective breakdown of the events.

Question: What was your interpretation of the contact between LeBron James and Isaiah Stewart?

Foster: Upon the free throw the initial contact deemed a loose ball foul by Isaiah Stewart and then a dead ball act by LeBron James, deemed a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 for unnecessary and excessive contact above the shoulder.

Russell Westbrook was also assessed a technical foul that even he didn't know about postgame. Foster explained that the Lakers guard was considered an “escalator” and not a “peace maker” during the heated altercation.

The Lakers used the heat of the moment to battle back against the Pistons, eventually battling back from a 17-point deficit to take the game sans LeBron James.
