The Los Angeles Lakers are the team to watch once again during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The storied franchise has been the dominant force in Las Vegas with second-year guard Josh Hart making a strong case to be named Summer League MVP like his teammate Lonzo Ball did last year.
Along with the Lakers going strong during the Summer League and inching closer to back-to-back titles, superstar LeBron James made an appearance in Las Vegas to watch his team for the first time since signing a four-year deal earlier this month. LeBron knows this roster quite well as noted by Tania Ganguli of the L.A. Times.
Of the players on the Summer League roster, only four may play a role on LeBron's Lakers next season. Hart has been impressive during his time in Las Vegas and continues to make a case for playing time with his versatile skill set. Alex Caruso has also made an impression this summer and could see his stint extended.
Also, the team's rookie duo of Moritz Wagner and Svi Mykhailiuk have played well during their short time with the team thus far. Wagner suffered an injury earlier in the Summer League which will keep him sidelined for the rest of the way, but Mykhailiuk has shown why the team drafted him as he's been lights out from beyond the arc.
James may like what he sees in these young players as he'll have plenty of promising talent around him next season including other notable players like Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, and JaVale McGee.
